CRESTVIEW, FL (August 9, 2021) – Nona ‘LeAnn’ Holcombe, MSN, RN, has been named chief nursing officer (CNO) for North Okaloosa Medical Center.
An accomplished and transformational leader, Holcombe brings over 25 years of progressive clinical and management experience, 20 years of which she spent right here at NOMC.
“I would like to welcome LeAnn back to the North Okaloosa Medical Center family,” said Interim Chief Executive Officer Joey Hester. “LeAnn exemplifies the standards of excellence we strive for each day, and I am confident that her knowledge, experience, and enthusiasm will foster a culture of clinical excellence among our team, while ensuring the highest level of compassionate high quality care for our patients and community.”
Beginning her clinical career at NOMC as a registered nurse in the ICU/PCU, Holcombe spent 10 years in that role before moving to the cardiovascular lab where she functioned as the clinical coordinator of the observation unit as well as a cath lab RN. In 2010, Holcombe accepted the position of director of the cardiovascular lab/observation unit at NOMC, and in addition to functioning within that leadership role she also served as the center’s chest pain coordinator.
A passionate advocate for focused leadership, patient safety and nursing practice, it was during her cardiac services tenure that she leveraged these passions and led the successful implementation of North Okaloosa Medical Center's current PCI program, as well as spearheaded NOMC’s initial certification as an accredited chest pain center.
Relocating to Jacksonville in 2015, Holcombe served across various roles including as a leader at the Mayo Clinic, all the while attending Jacksonville University to earn her master’s degree in nursing. In her most recent role as associate chief nursing officer at Capital Regional Medical Center, Holcombe was instrumental in implementing forward-thinking practices to improve quality metrics and patient care.
Throughout her career, Holcombe’s commitment to leadership and nursing practice has been well recognized. In 2010 she was named Director of the Year at NOMC and in 2016 she accepted the Lamp of Nursing Leadership Award by Northwest Florida State College. In 2018, Holcombe was honored by the Mayo Clinic, receiving the Nurse Exemplar Vigilant Guardian of the Year Award followed by the Mayo Clinic’s Nurse Exemplar Transformational Leader of the Year in 2019.
“It’s an honor to lead the incredible team of professional nurses here at North Okaloosa Medical Center,” said CNO LeAnn Holcombe. “I am committed to quality healthcare and the patient experience, and remain dedicated to our pledge to provide compassionate, innovative, and high-quality care. NOMC is a very special place to me, and I’m looking forward to caring for those in this community that I call home.”
