North Okaloosa Medical Center Hosts Jars of Love Peanut Butter Drive to Fight Hunger
1/26/2024
CRESTVIEW, FL (Jan. 26) – North Okaloosa Medical Center (NOMC) invites community members to join their efforts to fight hunger by participating in the second annual Jars of Love Peanut Butter Drive benefiting Feeding the Gulf Coast. Peanut butter is a sought after item for food banks because of its high nutritional value and long shelf life. Yet, it is one of the least donated items.
“We recognize the impact hunger has on an individual’s health and wellbeing, and we want to help those in our community who are struggling with food insecurity,” said Mike Nordness, CEO. “An estimated 10% of people in Okaloosa County are facing food insecurity. Our Jars of Love Peanut Butter Drive is a great way to partner with community members to reduce hunger in our area.”
North Okaloosa Medical Center will have collection sites for jars of peanut butter and monetary donations to purchase more jars in the hospital’s cafeteria. NOMC’s goal is to collect at least 1,000 jars this year, increasing the 759 jars collected last year. The Jars of Love Peanut Butter Drive kicks off on Feb. 12 and will run through March 25.
