3/27/2026
Crestview, FL (3/27/26) - North Okaloosa Medical Center proudly celebrated the completion of its $15 million emergency department expansion with a ribbon cutting ceremony held on Wednesday, March 25, marking a significant investment in improving access to high-quality, life-saving care for the community.
The expansion increases the emergency department’s capacity from 15 beds to 25 total beds, including three trauma bays. The project also introduces two dedicated behavioral health rooms and an on-site X-ray unit within the ED, enhancing both patient safety and efficiency of care.
“This expansion reflects our ongoing commitment to meeting the growing healthcare needs of our community,” said Mike Nordess, CEO. “With increased capacity and enhanced capabilities, we are better equipped than ever to provide timely, high-quality emergency care.”
The upgraded emergency department supports NOMC’s continued recognition as an Accredited Chest Pain Center with Primary PCI, as well as its designation as an Alabama Level II Stroke Center and a Certified Stroke Center by The Joint Commission - ensuring patients have access to advanced, specialized care when every second counts.
Community leaders, healthcare partners, board members, and hospital staff attended the ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate this milestone.
North Okaloosa Medical Center extends its sincere appreciation to the community partners, leaders and team members whose support made this expansion possible. This investment reflects NOMC’s ongoing commitment to delivering high-quality emergency care and ensuring patients have access to the services they need, when and where they need them most.
